About the Artist:
William Cameron “Ron” Christie is a fine art photographer
with 35 years of experience capturing images of the
wilderness regions of the southwest (Sierra Nevada
Mountains, California, Arizona and Utah deserts, Zion
National Park), the Ojai Valley, to the California coast and
as far away as China. He comes from an artistic family. His
mother, Mary Christie is a painter and sculptor. His brother
is a ceramicist and his sister an art therapist. In
addition, numerous members of his extended family are
involved in the pursuit of creating art. Ron was introduced
to the camera by his high school photography teacher. From
that point on, an enduring passion for capturing beauty
wherever it can be found was kindled. He possesses the
unique ability to isolate the elements and principles of
design from the most profound to the most sublime of subject
matter.
Mr. Christie holds AA and
BA degrees with specializations in photography as well as an
MA degree in Instructional Media and Technology. He has
taught photography at the high school, community college and
university level. Ron’s equipment has run the gambit from
35mm and medium format to large format view cameras. Mr.
Christie has a strong background in film-based photography
but he now works almost exclusively with digital
cameras. Ron is a member of the Ojai Art Association and has
exhibited in numerous invitational as well as one-man shows.
His work is a part of many private and public collections.
Christie’s aesthetic sensibilities come
from his deeply held spiritual values. He sees his work as a
form of worship to the One who created the world he attempts
to interpret with his lens.
